At Spice Without Borders, every participant, Spicilitator™, mentor, partner, volunteer, staff member, and alumnus contributes to the culture of our community.

Our Code of Conduct sets the standards for how we learn, collaborate, communicate, and lead. It reflects our shared commitment to integrity, inclusion, professionalism, and responsible leadership.

By participating in any Spice Without Borders programme or activity, you agree to uphold these principles.

Spicilitator™ Code of Conduct

A Spicilitator™ is more than a facilitator.

A Spicilitator™ serves as a guide, coach, challenger, connector, and catalyst who enables others to learn through participation, reflection, and action.

Every Spicilitator™ commits to:

Create Safe Learning Spaces

  • Foster environments built on trust, respect, and psychological safety.
  • Ensure every participant feels welcomed and valued.

Facilitate Learning

  • Encourage inquiry rather than simply providing answers.
  • Promote participation, reflection, and experiential learning.
  • Empower participants to discover solutions independently.

Lead Inclusively

  • Use accessible and inclusive language.
  • Encourage quieter voices.
  • Value diverse experiences and viewpoints.
  • Avoid favouritism or bias.

Maintain Professional Standards

  • Respect confidentiality.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Never exploit participants.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Encourage Critical Thinking

  • Challenge assumptions respectfully.
  • Promote evidence-based dialogue.
  • Welcome disagreement without creating division.

Model Lifelong Learning

Represent Spice Without Borders with professionalism, integrity, compassion, and accountability.

Mentors, Guest Speakers and Partners

All mentors, speakers, collaborators, and partners agree to:

  • Respect the values and mission of Spice Without Borders.
  • Share knowledge generously and responsibly.
  • Promote ethical leadership.
  • Encourage independent thinking rather than imposing personal opinions.
  • Protect confidential information.
  • Avoid discrimination, political campaigning, or commercial promotion during programme activities unless expressly authorised.

Learning Community Agreement

Every learning session is guided by these shared commitments:

Digital Community Standards

Members using online platforms are expected to:

  • Communicate respectfully.
  • Protect personal and confidential information.
  • Share accurate and trustworthy information.
  • Credit original work and sources.
  • Use inclusive language.
  • Report harmful or inappropriate behaviour.
  • Follow agreed online meeting etiquette.

Accountability

When concerns arise, Spice Without Borders seeks to resolve them fairly, respectfully, and consistently through a restorative process:

  1. Informal conversation.
  2. Coaching and reflection.
  3. Written improvement plan.
  4. Review by programme leadership.
  5. Appropriate action, which may include mediation, additional support, temporary suspension, or removal from the programme.

The objective of this process is to promote accountability, learning, fairness, and the wellbeing of the entire community.
